Mining solutions provider, Metso Outotec has decided to sell off its fabrication and machinery operations in Vereeniging, South Africa.

The company had been mulling the divesture since March when it began a review of the South African unit, which supplies mine equipment as well as undertake repairs. The firm concluded on Nov 3 that it will sell the unit to a local company, under whom about 110 employees will continue working in spare parts and repairs.

The decision is expected to cause 90 job losses. The business unit has provided pumps, mill linings, and other spare parts to the mining industry in South Africa. Metso did not disclose trading volumes or a valuation of the unit.
