Industrial production in Mexico grew 10.5pc in the first half of 2021, compared to the same period last year, the National Institute of Geography, Statistics, and Informatics (INEGI) reported today.

 

The institute’s Monthly Industrial Activity Indicator (IMAI) also determined that in June 2021, output increased by 13.5pc compared to the same month of 2020.

 

According to the IMAI, mining activity also registered growth in H1 2021, of 1.6pc compared to the first six months of 2020. In June, activity in this sector advanced 5pc compared to the sixth month of last year.

 

Manufacturing industries grew 15.2pc between January and June of this year, compared to the same year-ago period; while in the sixth month of 2021, the jump was 16.3pc compared to the previous year.

 

Operations of basic metal industries in Mexico were 13.5pc in H1 2021, compared to 2020. In June of this year, this sector grew 29.1pc compared to the same month a year ago.

 

Manufacturing of metal products increased by 26.7pc in the first six months of 2021, compared to H1 2020. Growth in the sixth month of this year was 39.1pc, relative to June 2020.
