The Mexican Secretariat of Economy has extended anti-dumping duties on cold-rolled coil (CRC) imports from Russia and Kazakhstan for five years.
The duties on CRC exported from the two countries to Mexico were set at 15pc for Russia and 22pc for Kazakhstan, the economy ministry said in a resolution published in Mexico’s official gazette (Dof) on Tuesday.
The anti-dumping duties will be valid from June 30, 2019, to June 30, 2024, according to the gazette. The probe was opened following a request from Mexican steelmakers Ternium Mexico and Altos Hornos de México (Ahmsa) and the products affected are classified under tariff 7209.16.01 and 7209.17.01.
The Mexican Steel Association (Canacero) expects CRC consumption to increase by 2.7pc in 2020 and 2.1pc in 2021, the Dof said without disclosing volumes.
