Mexico’s automotive, mining and construction industries have permission to restart operations before June 1, provided they comply with health and safety protocols to protect their employees from contracting COVID-19.
The amendment follows the original agreement announced earlier this week, which allowed resumption of operations on May 18.
Under the new agreement, which was published in the country’s official gazette of the federation (Dof) on May 15, the government must approve the safeguards put in place from May 18 to June 1.
If the health protocols aren’t followed, the government will order the companies closed for putting their employees at risk, read the Dof.
