The Mexican Ministry of Economy (SE) has extended the period of countervailing duties (CVD) imposed on imports of stainless steel sinks originating from China, regardless of which country exported them.
In the country’s official gazette (DOF), the SE indicated that it was levying $4.14/kg on imports of stainless steel produced and coming from Taizhou Luqiao Jixiang Kitchenware and $5.40/kg for imports from other China’s exporters.
Importers will not be required to pay CVD if they demonstrate that the country of origin of their merchandise is other than China, SE added in the DOF notification. However, if the product is found to have originated in China, the above duties will be applicable even if the product was imported from any other country.
