Mexico’s industrial output decreased by 3.7pc on an annual basis in January due to a decline in mining, construction, and manufacturing.

 

Mining activity dropped by 3.5pc in January compared to the same month in the prior year, construction activity declined by 10.5pc, and manufacturing activity decreased by 1.1pc in the same period, the National Statistics Agency (Inegi) said in a statement on Friday, without disclosing volumes.

 

Construction activity dropped amid a 12.3pc and 7.9pc decline in the construction of new buildings and civil engineering works, respectively, in January on an annual basis, Inegi noted. On a monthly basis, however, Mexico’s industrial output rose by 0.2pc during the same timeframe.
