Mexico’s industrial output fell by 3.1pc on an annual basis in February due to a decline in construction and manufacturing industries according to the National Statistics Agency (Inegi).

 

Construction activity dropped by 5.3pc in February compared to the same month of the prior year, while manufacturing activity declined by 3.1pc in the same period, Inegi noted in a statement on Friday. Mining activity, on the other hand, rose by 0.6pc in February compared to the same month last year.

 

Construction of new buildings and civil engineering works declined by 5.1pc and 7.1pc, respectively, year-on-year in February, Inegi indicated. On a monthly basis, Mexico’s industrial output rose by 0.4pc in February from the same month in 2020.
