Mexico’s mining output fell by 0.4pc in February on an annual basis due to lower production of iron ore and zinc according to the National Statistics Agency’s (Inegi) data.
Iron ore production declined by 14pc to 465,982mt in February, from 541,905mt in the same month of the prior year, and zinc output fell by 18.2pc to 29,405mt from 35,936mt in the same period, Inegi indicated in a statement on Friday.
Copper production, on the other hand, increased by 4pc to 40,921mt in February, from 39,343mt in the same month of 2020, and lead production rose by 4.7pc to 13,598mt from 12,989mt during the same timeframe.
On a monthly basis, mining production declined by 0.5pc in February compared to January 2021, Inegi noted without disclosing volumes.
