Mexico’s steel production is estimated to grow by 11pc to 18mn mt by the end of this year, according to its steel industry estimates.
According to media reports citing a blog by steelmaker Deacero, steel production in Mexico has received a boost because of the opening of borders and the end of trade restrictions.
In 2020, the volume of crude steel production in Mexico reached 16.3mn mt, making it the 15th largest producer in the world according to World Steel Association (Worldsteel) data. Mexico exported steel products worth $2.9bn in H1 2021, up 21pc from $2.4bn between January and June a year ago.
