Minera Centinela, which is a joint venture between Marubeni (30pc) and Antofagasta (70pc), signed an 11-year agreement to supply ENGIE beginning in 2022. All power supplied will come through renewable energy sources.
Annual copper production at the Minera Centinela mine is close to 270,000mt, and the new agreement will help supply the burgeoning electric vehicle industry. Additionally, the company will steadily provide copper to Japan and build the future foundation of its copper business.
