Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Belarus’ Miory Mill, part of the MMPZ Group, produced and shipped over 4,000mt of annealed cold rolled coil (CRC) in January 2020.

The double cold reduction and temper mill was officially launched in late December 2020 but began testing production in early November, the company noted in a statement on Feb 25. The mill’s infrastructure was originally tested in July with the electrolytic line commissioned later.

Miory’s export destinations include Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, and Ukraine. The plant is reaching its projected capacity of 60,000mt of annealed CRC annually. According to the company, it was the first Belarus-based mill to produce the quality of CRC for both the domestic and export markets.

The mill has a total production capacity of 150,000mt of tinplate annually. Management expects the total capacity to be reached by summer 2021 and has plans to ramp it up by 90,000mt or 60pc to 240,000mt.
