Japan’s Mitsubishi Motors produced 75,949 vehicles in September, down 60.1pc from the previous year period. The company announced production and sales for September and first half of 2020 on October 29.
Production
In September, Mitsubishi’s domestic production was reported at 38,837 units, down 70pc from the previous year. Overseas production dipped by 52pc to 37,112 units in the same month from 2019. Total production in first nine months stood at 610,190 units, down 59.4pc from the prior year.
September marks the fifth consecutive monthly YoY decrease in domestic production since April and it is the eleventh consecutive monthly decrease in overseas production since October last year.
Sales
Domestic sales (excluding exports) stood at 6,965 units in September, down by 51pc from the prior year. From Jan-September, domestic sales stood at 54,022 units, down 61pc from the previous year.
Total exports were reported at 15,847 units in September, down 46.5pc from the previous year. In the nine-month period 145,365 units were exported, down 52pc from a year ago. Exports are down for the fifth consecutive month since April, compared to the previous year.
