Indian automaker Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) plans to offer an end-to-end solution to those who intend to scrap their end-of-life vehicles. The automaker has signed an MOU with Mahindra MSTC Recycling Private Limited (MMRPL), which has an automotive and steel recycling facility at Greater Noida called CERO.
MMRPL is a joint venture between the government owned MSTC and Mahindra Intertrade. Mahindra dealerships across the country, along with CERO will offer all services from vehicle pick up to dismantling at CERO scrap yards. Material recovered will be used in manufacture of new cars.
The move by M&M is in line with India’s vehicle scrappage policy. The Indian government is in the process of chalking out the implementation of the policy, including incentives to be given.
