MMK increased its total sales in Central Asia by 82pc and by 35pc in the CIS in 2020, because of its growing business in Uzbekistan. 

 

Last year, the company’s total sales to the CIS nation totaled to 415,600mt, MMK said in a statement on Thursday. 

 

At an exhibition recently held in Tashkent, MMK stated that it had sold 66,200mt of hot-rolled steel to Tashkent Pipe Rolling Plant (TPP), its biggest customer in Uzbekistan, in 2020. 

 

In 2021, the Russian steel manufacturer is growing its sales in the auto industry in Uzbekistan after selling close to 38,000mt of steel products to the Uzbek Automotive Industry last year,  with a primary focus on UzAuto Motors and its subsidiaries. 

 

MMK sold 19,200mt of steel products to Akfa-Artel, the owner of the ARTEL group, a home appliances manufacturer, last year. The steelmaker is also a major supplier of hot-rolled coils to the Tashkent Iron and Steel Works, which launched its new facility at the end of last year. The new plant has a production capacity of 500,000mt of galvanized and coated steel annually.
