Morocco has imposed safeguard duty of 25pc on the imports of hot-rolled coils (HRC) into the country originating from India, according to media reports citing the Moroccan authorities.
The 25pc duty is a part of Morocco’s extensive safeguard measures implemented in 2020.
Initially, India was excluded from the tariffs for being a part of the developing countries’ list. However, the customs authority confirmed recently that it has removed India from the list of developing countries. Due to this, Indian HRC imports will face a tariff of 25pc until April 2023.
The authorities, however, said that Indian-origin imported products that have issued transport documents before January 28, 2021, will not be subject to this measure.
