Nickel Asia Corp (NAC) is set to resume nickel ore shipments from two units in the Philippines’ Surigao del Norte province.
Although initially suspended April 1 as a COVID-19 containment measure, local government allowed mining operations to continue. NAC is one of country’s largest nickel mines, supplying nickel ore to various Chinese pig iron producers and smelters. In a statement to Philippines Stock Exchange, the company said the vessels used for ore shipments follow strict quarantine guidelines.
NAC is also covering other Surigao del Norte companies’ export, which Dante Bravo, president of nickel ore producer Global Ferronickel Holdings, said should ease supply chain worries companies in the province had.
