India’s state-backed National Aluminum Company (Nalco) exported 93,730mt of primary aluminum in H1 FY21, ending Sep 30, compared with 30,561mt shipped in the first half of FY 2020.
According to its Q2 earnings report, the company produced 487,000mt of alumina hydrate along with 106,000mt of primary aluminum during the quarter. Prior-year comparative data was not provided.
The company’s aluminum sales rose 3.6 times to 58,574mt in Q2 FY21, compared with 16,305mt in the same quarter last year. The producer attributed the growth to better export performance.
In the second quarter of the fiscal, Nalco posted revenue of Rs23.75bn ($319.4mn), growing by 72pc from the preceding quarter. For the half-year ended Sep 30, the company registered a net profit of Rs1.24bn, compared with Rs700mn in the same period last year.
