Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Australia-based miner New World Resources has discovered better grades of copper, zinc, and lead during new drilling programs at its Antler mine in Mohave, Arizona.

According to a release on Nov 2, one of the two operational rigs at the mine bored about 24 meters deep to find a deposit grading 3.48pc copper, 8.84pc zinc, and 1.24pc lead. This has been the best intersection in the history of the Antler project, New World indicated.

The grade and thickness of mineral deposits seem to be improving at greater depths (more than 300m), Michael Haynes, New World’s managing director noted.

New World acquired the mine in January and has been exploring the depths of Antler since. The new finding uplifts the initial grading of 2.9pc copper, 6.9pc zinc, and 1.1pc lead by large margins. According to US Geological Survey data, the mine is estimated to hold about 2.26mn mt of mineral deposits.
