Iran-based National Iranian Copper Industries Company’s (NICICO) copper concentrate output rose in the first eight months (Mar 20- Nov 21, 2020) of the Iranian calendar by 4pc to 804,479mt from the prior-year period, according to media reports citing company officials.
The production volume includes production by NICICO’s subsidiaries – Sungun Complex, Miduk Complex, and Sarcheshmeh Copper Complex.
In the Mar-Nov period, the company produced 235,400mt of copper anode, up by 16pc, while its copper cathode output grew by 6pc to 183,300mt as compared to the prior-year period.
In the eight-month period, NICICO has also carried out 61,512 meters of deep explorations in copper ore mines.
Sales
The company’s sales in the Mar-Nov period stood at IRR230.85tn ($900mn), up by 72pc from the prior-year period.
Outlook
The company said it aims to increase its concentrate production capacity to 2.6mn mt as per its 2030-31 Development Plan and its copper cathode output capacity should exceed 550,000mt by 2031. It further added that the next priority for the company is to develop refinery sites.
