Iranian copper giant National Iranian Copper Industries Company’s (NICICO) sales during the first six months (March 20-Sep 21) of the Iranian calendar grew by 61.5pc to IRR161.95tn ($568mn) from the prior-year period, according to media reports citing the company.

 

In the sixth month (Aug 22-Sept 21), the sales stood at IRR42.86tn ($150mn), up by 47.5pc from the prior month.

 

The company’s exploration activities in March-Sep increased by 19pc from the same period year prior. It achieved a five-year high in mineral exploration activities with deep explorations of 44,000m in copper ore mines during the same period.

 

NICICO is planning to increase its copper concentrate output by 900mn to reach 2mn mt mid-term in its 2030-31 Development Plan.

According to the plan, the company’s copper cathode output capacity should exceed 550,000mt by 2031.

 

The company has several projects lined up that include the Sungun copper concentration plant, the second phase of the Miduk Complex, and the third phase of Sarcheshmeh Copper Complex. It further said that it will finalize 30 projects by March 2021.

 

NICICO is now one of the leading copper producers in the Middle East and North Africa region.
