Nippon Steel to supply high alloy OCTG pipe for Equinor’s carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) project.
Equinor is the service provider to the Northern Lights Joint Venture headquartered in Norway. Under this project, the industrial CO2 emissions in the European countries will be collected and transported via a 100km pipeline under the seabed.
This CO2 will need OCTG pipes to be corrosion resistant and Nippon Steel has been successfully supplying such corrosion-resistant pipes to the oil and gas industry for many years.
Nippon Steel has already supplied around 130 pieces of carbon steel seamless pipes to this project that is already under construction and slated to go live in 2024. Equinor has also ordered high alloy OCTG pipes and Nippon plans to supply 120 pieces per month starting October this year.
