Nissan has set a target to achieve more than 40pc of its total car sales in the US to be electric vehicles (EVs) by 2030, according to reports. 


The automaker had previously set a target to achieve carbon neutrality across all operations and the life cycle of its products by 2050 along with a target to make EVs affordable with the launch of the Leaf electric car in 2010. 


The carmaker had also decided to standardise and share EV components with its French partner, Renault. 


The two automakers along with Mitsubishi announced, they would focus on sharing batteries, electric powertrains, and electronic architecture.


Nissan has decided to start the sale of Ariya electric SUV in the US from next year to further the success of Leaf compact electric car.
