Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

NLMK USA is scheduled to resume operations at its Indiana rolling mill in the week of June 29, after a six-week shutdown. 

 

Company sources confirmed to Davis Index that efforts are being made to launch the hot strip mill by Monday with expectations of having any potential challenges addressed to be fully operational by July 1.

 

According to the website, NLMK USA operates an electric arc furnace (EAF), a ladle metallurgy furnace, a continuous slab caster and a hot strip mill in Port of Indiana on the shores of Lake Michigan. 

 

The company’s EAF has an annual capacity of producing 0.8mn mt of steel. The EAF also includes a hot strip mill with an annual capacity of 1mn mt per year. Including the larger NLMK USA, the company has an annual capacity of 2.7mn mt.
