NLMK has established an online slab shop platform to facilitate sales of smaller slab quantities ranging from 60mt to 2,400mt.
The interface will aggregate orders for the small batches for production combining the same parameters for planning, the steelmaker indicated in a media statement on Thursday. New orders can be established individually, or a client can join an existing order.
The order process will not require prepayment and will enable small volume purchases by flat-rolled manufacturers. Noting the need for such a platform, the Russian company said that technical limitations made it difficult for many buyers to cost-effectively fulfill small batches of orders for highly specialized specification steel grades.
Orders will be approved timely and internally NLMK indicated, adding that the company will manage and optimize the quality and delivery logistics. NLMK has 20pc of the global steel slab market share. The aggregate process of smaller batches will allow for production chain efficiencies for the steelmaker.
