Russian steelmaker NLMK has started construction on a new continuous hot dip galvanizing line with capacity to produce 450,000 mt of steel annually at its Lipetsk location.
This will be the fifth hot dip galvanizing line—the other four produce 1.25mn mt of steel a year. The new line will produce high-quality steel for the construction, automotive, and white goods industries.
Last year, the company teamed up with Italian firm Tenova to supply the main equipment used for the project, which comes at a price tag of $159mn. The line is slated to become operational by 2022.
Additionally, the company has three pre-painting lines with capacity to produce 550,000mt per annum.
NLMK has production facilities in Russia, Europe and the US, and has annual steel production capacity of more than 17mn mt.
