The Mineral Resource Department of the state government of Chhattisgarh has issued a Letter of Intent  for the Bailadila iron ore mine in favor of NMDC-CMDC, according to media reports.

 

The NMDC-CMDC is a joint venture company with National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) holding a 51pc stake and Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation (CMDC) holding the remaining 49pc stake.

 

The letter issued to the joint venture is for the mining of iron ore in the Dantewada forest division of the Bailadila mines in Chhattisgarh.

In September 2019, the JV had received approval from the Indian government for the reservation of Balaidila Iron Ore Deposit-4, a large expanse of homogenous iron ore deposits with an onsite reserve of approximately 107mn mt with an average grade of Fe of 65.39pc.
