India-based miner National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) produced 3.24mn mt iron ore in February, a 3pc decrease from the prior year while sales fell by 17.8pc to 2.91mn mt.
In the Apr-Feb period, NMDC’s iron ore production rose by 2.6pc to 29.12mn mt and sales were up by 0.35pc to 28.9mn mt from the prior year period.
Chhattisgarh accounted 76pc of the company’s production at 22.27mn mt and Karnataka contributed the rest with 6.85mn mt ore production. Sales from the Chhattisgarh mines rose to 22.11mn mt in the Apr-Feb period as against 20.36mn mt in the same period last year. Sales from Karnataka dipped to 6.79mn mt as against 8.44mn mt in the prior year.
