India’s state owned National Mineral Development Corporation’s (NMDC) iron ore sales rose by 10.5pc in September to 2.11mn mt from prior year. Also, iron ore production increased by 11.6pc to 1.83mn mt from the prior month.
On cumulative basis, Apr- Sep, company’s iron ore production decline by 9pc to 12.24mn mt and sales also fall by 11.21pc to 12.91mn mt in the same period.
NMDC’s Chhattisgarh unit accounted for a larger part, 71pc, of the total production to 8.69mn mt and Karnataka contributed to the rest 29pc to 3.55mn mt in Apr-Sep 2020.
NMDC Donimalai update:
On Sep 15, the Karnataka Cabinet has cleared the application to start mining operations at Donimalai. This is a positive culmination of the dialogue between the company, Government of Karnataka and Government of India. The actual resumption of mining operations in Donimalai mines is expected to start shortly.
