State-owned National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has re-started construction activities at its upcoming greenfield steel plant in Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh from Monday. The company is adhering to social distancing and other measures to prevent any spread of COVID-19.
The company has stopped all its construction activities in the wake of countrywide lockdown declared by the Central Government on 24 March.From April 20, the Indian government has allowed construction activities to resume in areas outside city limits or non-hotspot area/location.
NMDC is setting up at 3mn mt annual capacity greenfield steel plant at Nagarnar in Bastar (Chhattisgarh) which was expected to be operational by the end of the current year. The company plans to produce flat products largely like Hot-rolled coil/ Sheets/ Plates along with other products like pig iron, granulated slag, BF coke and by-products.
