The National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) aims to utilise 97 percent of its production capacity to produce 35 mn mt iron ore in the fiscal year 2020-21.
The state-owned company has set a target of producing 100mn mt by 2030, as per media reports.
By 2030, the government also aims to increase India’s total steelmaking capacity to 300mn mt. Iron ore and coking coal is the main raw material used for producing steel.
