India’s largest iron ore miner NMDC’s total iron ore output in December 2020 rose to 3.86mn mt, up by 23.32pc, while sales grew by 19.08pc to 3.62mn mt from December 2019, according to the company’s operational update. 

 

NMDC’s cumulative production in April-Dec, 2020, however, declined slightly by 0.82pc to 21.83mn mt from 22.34mn mt produced in the prior-year period. Production declined due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

 

The company is steadily improving its sales performance and production level each month since the easing of the COVID-19-induced restrictions. In the April-Dec period, NMDC’s total sales stood at 22.34mt mt, down by 3pc as compared to 23.03mn mt in the prior-year period.

 

NMDC is a state-owned company operating under the aegis of Ministry of Steel. It has the capacity to produce 35mn mt iron ore from its three mines located in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka.
