Norilsk Nickel (Nornickel) plans to restore normal operations at its Oktyabrsky and Taimyrsky plants in the first ten days of May and early June, respectively.
The Oktyabrsky mine produces close to 5mn mt of ore per annum, while its Taimyrsky mine produces close to 4.3mn mt of ore annually.
The company completed the second phase of repair work at both plants on March 25th and has been working on resumption of operations. Nornickel has also taken measures to eliminate the risk of water inflow in the future, it said in a statement.
The company had announced earlier that it expects lower copper and nickel output for 2021 as it was working on restoring the operations in the first quarter.
