Nornickel has resumed 60pc of its production at its Oktyabrsky mine ahead of schedule after dealing with groundwater flooding in February.
The mine has a production capacity of 5mn t (4.5mn mt) per annum and expects to resume full operation by the end of this month.
Taimyrsky mine’s production is close to 4.3mn t per annum and its restart date has been unchanged and scheduled to open in the beginning of June, the company said in a statement.
Operations at its copper circuit with a 4mn t per annum output was also suspended and resumed operations on March 15th. Currently, Nornickel’s concentrator is also undergoing an inspection by the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Supervision and the firm’s internal auditors.
The firm’s disseminated ore processing circuit was also idle after the flooding incident and will re-started operations to full capacity by October this year. Its output capacity is around 5.2mn t per annum, the company stated.
The company plans to announce its updated 2021 outlook after its completes all upgrades and inspection and restarts operations across all plants and mines
