Russian firm Nornickel has reported that industrial water is overflowing from the edges of the sump pump at its Talnakh Concentrator.

The company stated that it hasn’t detected wastewater leakage and that the plant’s production cycle won’t be affected, however, an internal investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the incident.

Plant personnel decided to pump the water to the adjacent site, which violated the company’s operational protocols, and they have been suspended.

Nornickel is working with Russia’s ecological supervisory body, Rosprirodnadzor, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations to rectify the incident and check for any damage.
