Nornickel has projected a consolidated nickel output of 220,000-230,000mt in 2021.
The Russian miner also expects copper production at 390,000-410,000mt this year of which, 65,000-70,000mt is expected from its Chita mine.
In 2020, the group’s consolidated nickel output grew by 3pc to 235,709mt from 228,687mt in the previous year and rose by 13pc in Q4 2020 to 67,956mt from 60,165mt in the same quarter of the previous year.
Nornickel’s consolidated copper production fell by 2pc to 487,186mt in 2020 from 499,119mt in 2019 but rose by 8pc to128,598mt in the fourth quarter from 118,674mt in Q4 2019.
The miner’s nickel production at its Polar division and Kola MMC rose by 4pc to 172,357mt in 2020 from 166,265mt in 2019. In Q4 2020 nickel production at the two sites increased by 6pc to 50,419mt from 47,483mt in the same quarter of the previous year.
Copper output at the Polar division and Kola MMC dropped by 5pc to 422,031mt in 2020 from 442,682mt in 2019 but increased by 8pc to 110,872mt in the fourth quarter from 102,901mt during the same quarter in 2019.
