A northern province-based Chinese steelmaker has booked three high-speed wire rod mills from Primetals Technologies. The new mills will upgrade its production capacity and also improve thermo-mechanical rolling capabilities. Installation is expected to start in mid to late 2020.
The production capacity of each three mills is 720,000mt annually with a maximum operating speed of 115 metres/second and rolling rate of 150mt/hour. The mills will produce products of various sizes ranging from 5.5 to 20mm, 20 to 28mm in diameter, rebar of 6 to 16mm in diameter and coil with an inner diameter of 850mm and outer diameter of 1,250mm.
The company is among China’s largest raw material suppliers for fasteners in the northern region. It also produces welding wire and carbon structural grades.
