Norwegian company Hydro has forecast sales of its recycled aluminium product Circal at 40,000-50,000mt in 2021.
Hydro Circal is a range of products made with recycled, post-consumer scrap. In 2020, the company’s building systems unit expects to utilise 25,000mt of Circal aluminium, up from 10,000mt in the prior year, according to the company’s reply to Davis Index. The company will also increase the production capacity of their current remelters.
In 2018, Hydro invested in a remelting facility in Azuqueca, Spain to increase the production of Circal. This deal aimed at capacity expansion of additional 25,000 tonnes of recycled aluminium product Hydro 75R.
Hydro had launched a new climate strategy in September 2019, to cut emissions by 30pc in sourcing and operations by 2030.
