US steel giant Nucor has appointed David Sumoski as its chief operating officer, effective from January 1, 2021.

 

Sumoski currently serves as the executive vice president (EVP) of the steelmaker’s bar, rebar fabrication, and construction services division. He joined Nucor in 1995 at the firm’s Steel Berkeley plant. Sumoski has also served as vice president and general manager of Nucor Steel Marion in Memphis before he was promoted to his current role.

 

The company also announced a slew of executive promotions and appointments in a news release on Monday. Mary Emily Slate has been promoted to EVP of Commerical along with K. Rex Query who was promoted to EVP of sheet and tubular products.

 

The steelmaker also named Douglas Jellison as the EVP for the David J Joseph (DJJ) company, Nucor’s ferrous and nonferrous scrap broking, and processing subsidiary, soon after it named Mark Schaefer as president of DJJ. All the above changes will be effective from January 1, 2021.
