The steelmaker has completed overhaul operations at its rolling mill to ensure the uninterrupted supply of rolled steel to the domestic and international markets. The installation of control cabinets would be completed by November in order to launch the system by the end of the year.

 

It has completed are the replacement of the bearings set in the gearbox of the Vertical Rolling Mill Stand #3 of the first group of the Continuous Billet Mill. Sensors were installed to enable the real-time monitoring of equipment performance.  

 

The Rolling mill’s system has been designed to automatically control and diagnose the level of vibrations and temperatures, shock impulses of technological units, as well as identifying various flaws.  

 

Alexander Yudin at OEMK said that the project has been implemented as part of Metalloinvest’s corporate program to transform its maintenance and repair processes. This is to introduce the principle of reliability and a risk-focused approach to equipment maintenance. The company aims to undertake planned implementation of the maintenance procedures and accordingly determine repair costs for the most critical sections and units.
