Canada-based Lundin Mining has announced that 550 workers of the Candelaria union in Chile have approved a new 30-month collective agreement, which could soon resume partial operations at the mine. The union accepted the formal offer made on Nov 12, 2020.

Of the total workers under the banner of Candelaria Mine Workers Union,  350 members will still continue their labor action but will carry out critical works like protecting onsite personnel, keeping the operations and the environment unaffected.

Candelaria was in talks with the two supervisor unions collectively representing 230 associates. An agreement was reached with one of these- the LMC AOS Union, which had entered into negotiations in May 2020.

Lundin Mining has a presence in Brazil, Chile, Portugal, Sweden, and the US and produces copper, zinc, gold, and nickel.
