Operations resumed at Freeport McMoRan’s Grasberg gold and copper mine in Indonesia after mineworkers ended their week-long protest demanding ease of COVID-19 lockdown, according to media reports. 

Angered by travel restrictions due to spike in coronavirus cases in the region, over 1,000 mineworkers had taken to the streets and blocked access to the world’s second-largest copper mines in protest causing disruptions.

The workers said that the management has accepted their demands after week-long negotiations.
