Beaumont, Texas-based Optimus Steel is modernizing its rolling mill process entirely at its 1mn mt special steel wire rod site in Vidor, Texas. Modernization is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The complete electrical and automation package will be delivered and installed by Italy’s Danieli Automation to significantly increase production results, production quality, and safety conditions while reducing operating expenses. However, exact figures were not quoted.
Equipment upgrades include two HSS high-speed sheets for automatic cropping and two oil-film bearing laying heads with double pipe rotors to extend its pipe life. The upgrade will also add a new coil-finishing area and improve the mini-mill’s water treatment plant process.
