Canada-based Orvana Minerals has resumed operations at its Spanish facility. Earlier, operations by the company were restricted to minimum essential activities in compliance with the Spanish government’s lockdown guidelines which expired on April 9. 

 

The company, however, was able to resume production at its OroValle facility after the Government passed clarifying rules allowing export industries to resume production.

 

Orvana reported its Q2 production figures in its latest press release. It produced 1,422,000lbs (645mt) of copper in the March ending quarter from 1,441,000lbs in the prior yearCompared to the previous quarter, copper production more than doubled in Q2 from 882,000lbs. Orvana is a multi-mine gold-copper-silver mining company with two projects ‘The El Valle’ located in the northern part of Spain and ‘The Don Mario Mine’ located in the South-eastern part of Bolivia. 

 

Spain is one of the countries that has relaxed the lockdown measures as the economy has come to a standstill. The government has allowed manufacturing, construction and some other important sectors to resume work with adequate precautions. 

 

Amid COVID-19 situation, Orvana Minerals as decided to suspend its 2020 guidance until the company is in a position to assess the impact.
