OZ Minerals has suspended site operations at South Australia’s Prominent Hill temporarily following the death of a worker.
The incident is being investigated by the South Australian Police and Safework SA. OZ Minerals and Byrnecut (the mining contractor) are assisting with the investigations.
The underground worker died at the scene over the weekend after sustaining fatal injuries.
Prominent Hill produces one of the highest grades of copper concentrate traded on the open market. The mine is forecast to produce 70,000mt of copper in fiscal 2021.
