Production by Pakistan’s Large-Scale Manufacturing Industries (LSMI) grew by 5.02pc in July, compared to the prior-year period, revealed data by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Sep 15.
The LSMI Quantum Index Number (QIM) rose by 134.14 points in the month from 127.73 points in July 2019. Industrial growth increased by 9.54 points in July 2020 from the preceding month, indicating a V-shaped recovery of the economy, according to the country’s Planning, Development, Reforms, and Special Initiatives Minister Asad Umar.
Sectors like the automobile, iron and steel products, and electronics, however, witnessed degrowth by 23.31pc, 11.13pc, and 33.31pc, respectively.
