Ferrous scrap imports in Pakistan increased by 10.88pc to 1.74mn mt in January-May against 1.56mn mt in the same period in 2020, according to the country’s Customs data. 

 

However, its ferrous scrap imports declined to 266,420mt in May down by 15pc from 313,725mt in the same month of last year and by 18pc from April. 

 

In the first five months of the year, Pakistan’s iron and steel imports increased by 27.6pc to 1.34mn mt from 1.05mn mt in January-May 2020. In May, the country’s iron and steel imports increased by 11pc to 272,786mt compared to May 2020 and 25pc from the prior month.
