Australia-based Panaromic Resources has temporarily halted operations at its Savannah nickel mine located in the East Kimberley region, according to the company statement. The move comes in the wake of COVID-19 spreading in the East Kimberley region which has adversely impacted its operations, including transportation, availability and cost of labour, equipment and supplies at site caused by the pandemic.
There are currently no cases of COVID-19 reported at the mine. The company, however, expects disruption in operations and the ramping- up activity in Savannah North to continue for several months.
The company, therefore, withdrew its previously provided production and cost guidance for 2020. The ramp up of mine would have helped the company to operate at its full annual capacity of 1mn mt.
