Peru’s construction output rose by 14.3pc in February on higher demand for the development of real estate projects, condominiums, urban development, and offices for mines the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) said in a statement on Apr 15.

Public investment for construction works increased by 7.8pc in February compared to the same month last year, driven by an increase of 17.7pc in local government projects and 5.4pc for national government works.

Road infrastructure projects such as bridges and highways, and construction of hospitals and schools were most sought after during the month under review, INEI noted. Contracts for construction industry personnel rose by 4.8pc to 17,000 workers in the Lima Metropolitana area in Peru.

Manufacturing output, on the other hand, fell by 1.2pc in February compared to the same month in the prior year, due to lower demand for precious metals and other non-ferrous metals.

 

Peru’s mining production fell by5.3pc in February on an annual basis due to lower production of iron ore and lead.
