Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Perus copper exports amounted to $11,155mn between January and July 2021, a 78.1pc increase over the $6,263mn in the same period last year, according to data from the National Society of Mining, Petroleum, and Energy (SNMPE).

 

The country’s total mining exports grew 69.5pc to $21,632mn compared to the $12,759 during the same timeframe under review. Export figures surpassed pre-pandemic levels since SNMPE reported a 35.6pc increase from the $15,957 mining exports for the same period in 2019.

 

Copper exports for July 2021 were $1,593mn, a 39pc increase compared to $1,146mn during the same month in 2020. Peru’s export volumes contracted by 5.6pc as against the same year-ago month, even though there was a 47.2pc price increase

In July, mining exports reached $3,078mn, a 42.9pc rise to $2,153mn in the previous year. 

 

The Peruvian mining sector is expected to grow 8.5pc in 2022.
