Russia’s pig iron exports dropped in January-June 2020 as local consumption of the material increased.
The country exported 1.738mn mt of pig iron through the first six months of this year, down by 28pc from the same period in 2019, according to Russian customs data. However, exports of the material rose almost four times in June to 656,000mt from the same month last year.
Pig iron production in Russia rose by 4pc to 26.28mn mt during the period under review, according to worldsteel. The country is the fourth-largest pig iron producer in the world.
